Just go to your local hardware store and get a single pole double throw kill switch. Or just use a screwdriver to ground out your spark plug to somewhere on the metal frame of the motor.

The same thing happened to mine, it looks like it's just a cheap plastic switch. We sell much sturdier metal bat-handle spst switches that I was considering using. Guess I'll give it a whirl...
I've got the itch... No, not that one. It's the good kind.
It's pronounced "fay-len" (the x's are silent)

I replaced two of them last year.  I bought them at Daves small engine, in Oxford near the speedway.  Same as the
original.  I understand they are on chain saws as well.  Anyway after I broke the second one, I made a longer wire,
and moved it down and out of the way one the side of the auger.

Mine's getting weak too and I don't expect it to last the season. It flips up and down with little resistance. No click just a slight drag in the middle as you flip it. I'm looking to fit something along the lines of a rubber-boot-covered-momentary-contact-push-button-kill-switch. This way it cannot be left in the 'Off' position when you're pulling the cord...

Not sayin' it's ever happened before,, yunno,, gonna do it just in case...

Similar to the kill switches on '80's outboard motors but smaller. Push the button, when it stops running you can let it go. I may need to get a switch and buy a boot to fit. Even the power switch for a computer would work but I don't think they would be weather resistant enough.

On my old Jiffy one-armed bandit after the switch broke, I'd just take my glove off and bare handed, seal the inlet side of the carb and starve-stall the motor. No air cleaner, just an air diverter made it easy.  ;)
Caveat Emptor et cum grano salis
I enjoy helping people out,,, which way did you come in?
