Sometimes I'll bring a bluetooth speaker.  They are plenty loud for a shanty.  I normally only do that if I'm out on Lake Erie far away from others.

I prefer the hiss of a Coleman propane lantern.

Battery!!!

I've always listened to NPR, car talk, what do you know, prairie home (GK joke somewhere).., now that new show with Chris T, pretty cool.. All kinds of music.. Old metal, to Danny Brown...

No volume or stereo needed just an FM radio..

At night, over two miles from anyone on Erie, its sometimes my only company..

After seeing the Milwaukee power source, posted here, a light bulb moment.. I could use my 18v to get 12v and 5v usb.. So I piggy backed the Milwaukee PS, into my Ridgid radio, its small, light, and runs me shanty lights, fan, phone charger... Bunch of weight ditched..

When I listen to old Metallica, so do my neighbors!

In the past a Bluetooth speaker. I picked up a compact single din marine radio with built in speakers so I’m currently putting a power box together with that thing mounted in the case.

I’ll listen to just about anything depending on the mood except for new country. New country sucks. When people get too close I crank up the volume and play Scottish bagpipes. That usually keeps them at a distance.

I have a marine stereo hard wired in my permy, two speakers mounted up high. thinking of up grading to a stereo that's blue tooth capable.
Keep the volume low when fishing but have the ability to shake the hut when i want.

I have a car stereo and four spesakers in my wheelhouse which I use quietly and seldom. If you are close enough to hear it I may have to use my trunk monkey.

Always Bluetooth, on my boat too.  I've had many days on the river where a few beers caused me to leave the radio on a little too long.  We have convinced ourselves that we have discovered scientific evidence that correlates the catching of fish to certain songs....

Ha ha, you got 8 years on me, and I'll say this...

Anyone thinks we're old farts, is funny, we're generation X! Last of the tough, younger generations, still can't keep up.. Our kids will be tough, because we were, can't say the same about the children of "generation Y" (why) and gen cry...

The dead silence, or wind or a distant gas auger or chainsaw are music to my ears. I suggest you wear ear buds or head phones if you are near others and need chewing gum for your ears.

To all the hijackers, I know its common on every thread, but why don't people think others have the right to go out and enjoy the outdoors however they want.  I'm just curious why peoples thought process is the way it is, not trying to take out a personal attack on anyone.  This thread is about how you like to listen to your music on ice.  I don't know why people leave their houses if they hate seeing or hearing other humans so much.  Wouldn't it just be better to build a soundproof room in your house and sit by yourself for 8 hours a day?  Why spend time on a website intended to create a social aspect of the sport? Just curious....

It's quiet where I fish, I can hear the crunch of tires on gravel a couple miles or more away. I know when the rooster gets spooked, and wonder what set him flying.

When I'm out, I want to hear the tongggg of one of my tip up going off.

The only thing worse than having to listen to someone else's bad music is having to listen to one sided phone calls

I like to tune mine into that station that plays the sound of a monofilament line that is about to bust from a trophy walleye. And slap you right ends where mine begins, just like the aholes who are blasting their car stereo at 2 am in the spring when my windows are open and most working people are sleeping. What ever happened to respecting other peoples right to nature without intrusion, I make my living working on 2 cycle engines so listen to noise all day and bought an ION auger to keep things as they are when WE are not there. I am no tree hugger, But respecting other peoples rights to what we are trying to do and that is fish, put those damn ear buds in and push all your nuggets out it is not my concern, just dont make me listen to your choice of noise.

A lot of sensitive people around, didn't mean to start a fight.  I make my living putting on the uniform every day so people can have the freedom to play their music while fishing, among other things.  No one said they were disrespectfully blasting music in an inappropriate manner.  No one is MAKING anyone listen to anything, life is too short to be so grumpy... live and let live.
