Another site like Ice Shanty ?

Just wondering if there is a site like Ice Shanty for open water fishing come spring. If not there should be. Or does this site continue on? ;D

Yes, there is a sister site with many of our Iceshanty members.  www.myfishfinder.com  The format is pretty much the same.  Excellent pictures boards.

Also, folks post on here all year but when it's not ice season not as frequently.

i think the reason alot more people arent on MFF is that most IS members are construction workers or of other trades that limit there computer time in the warmer months ???

 That's not necessarily true. Remember the thread "What do you do for a living".There was amazing variety to our chosen professions. I just don't think open water fishers are a amiable as we hard water nuts.....It's just more social.

very true, but alot of people are alot slower in the winter months due to the weather also, so they have more time to BS on thier computers at work, or work alot less hours due to lack of work, then if you add in the people that are laid off during the winter months, those people add up to alot more posting on IS. plus alot of people camp and take vacations and excursions in the summer so dont always have the time or reason to sign up for an open water site. same with MHF, its mostly just active during deer season and that weird period where people cant ice fish and open water is less interesting or there boats are put up ???

Arch ya hit the nail on the head.  I work construction all summer and have little time
to go fishing or chat on the puter.  In the slack winter season I hit the ice.  It keeps
us woodbutchers from going crazy with cabin fever waiting on the next building season.  The reason not as many blue collar workers told us of their professions as
the doctors and scientists should be obvious.  Some really intelligent folks here on
the Shanty.  This iceless year we have become a support group for each other and
it ain't icefishin but it helps to chase the blues.  Jim111,  I like to golf.  It's like a mini
two hour vacation.  It's always relaxing on a golf course.

I Believe myfishfinder is slow because less people need help on water conditions during the summer no need to know how thick the water is :)  I fish just as much in the summer as winter        I just work longer hours in the summer and then night fish for walleyes mainly after work when its dark.
