Was there yesterday, very slow 1 perch in 2.5 hours at hunters point.   8 to 9 inch ice.  Had 3 tip ups with smelt no bites in 16 feet.  One guy by us pulled out one 30" pike as we were leaving only one he had. Google luck

Has anyone been out to Box Butte or Minitare in the past few days?   I'm curious what the ice looks like after a couple days of warm weather.    Trying to figure out which direction to go this saturday..

thanks

We were up there a week ago and ice was good. We did catch a 35" and 36" pike, other then that fishing was slow.

Did the lake fill back up from being so low this summer?  Sounds like the fishing is a lot slower this year.

Can a guy get some smelt by chance at the store in Hemingford? I'm planning on heading up later this week and would be coming through Western NE.  A place in Scottsbluff could work too to pick up some smelt/pike bait.  Any info/pointers would be appreciated.  Glad to hear it sounds like ice is good with a somewhat warm temps.

Fished Box Butte from about 7am - 5:30pm today.  Came home with 6 perch 9"-11" and 3 bluegill 8"-9.5"  Caught my first walleye through the ice and managed to catch a few northern on the jigging rod.  All in all a pretty good day.

A great way to end 2013!

Fished all day Tuesday and 1/2 the day yesterday. We couldn't manage anything other than pike. Fished from 5' to 16' of water. People near us caught a couple perch. Very slow!!

Fished today (Friday) east of the boat ramps.  From 9:30 until 1:45 I have never fished that lake when it was that windy.  35 mph straight out of the west.   Saw 10 groups of guys, most at Hunter's Point.  Most left at noon, really not that cold, most left because they got tired of fighting the wind.  Okay, enough b***hing.  100 ft out from the shore, best holes were in 10 ft of water.  Used small minnows, smelt and wax worms.  Three Northerns average size  bite was slow  2 on minnows 1 on smelt.   7 perch a couple really nice ones all on small minnows.  Only fished wax worms for 1 hour.  The fish were there,   15-18 inches of ice and solid.  Just wait till next time you little buggers!

Is B&J bait still in business in Alliance? I called their number but it was a wrong number 762 3277.  I need minnows for this weekend.
Thanks   ;D

I have 762-7464 and ask for Irene. Not sure if it is the same place or not.
