I was fishing the westend, I fish both but I seem to like the westend a little better for pike.

Is it easy access to get there? I've always fished hunters or the dam.

I agree with PanhandleIce the bigger pike are at the west end. The access is easy it is the very next access point west of hunters point, it isn't as well marked as hunters point but its there. I pulled a 37" pike and several in the slot from the west end this year already.

Hammerhandle41 & PanhandleIce....what depths are you fishing at??  I can't wait to get back over to Box Butte this year, so I am headed over next Saturday!  I have always fished the West end of the lake & had pretty good luck with the pike, but nothing over 28".

Went up today and iced 4 20-26in pike and a few small perch. My friend iced 6 real nice pike.
Some nice guy gave us some minnows as he was leaving. His group iced many pike and a nice walleye.

We had a good day up there as well.  Landed about 25 Pike between the 2 of us (none over 26")  Also got about 18 gills (best was 9") and some decent crappies and perch.  Never was hot and heavy but solid all day.  Lots of other anglers out as well, all nice guys.  Beautiful day that went by too fast as always!  Cheers,Chris

btw. Ice was in good shape 8-10"

I usually fish between 7' and 9' feet of water with the bait wetween 2' foot off the bottom and 2' under the ice. It just depends on what depth the pike are that day.

Ice great yet and edges were good for the most part. Caught 20 pike (none over 26"), a dozen nice bluegill, a few smaller perch and a european rudd.

Fished for 4 hours today on the west end. Slow to start until I put the suckers 2-3 ft below the ice. Nothin big. All 20 - 23 in. Caught 8 and missed that many. Need to up grade my hooks. Never have had any success with panfish there. All real small. Was a nice day to be out though.
