Looked good this week , entire lake locked up several guys out all over the lake .
-
Nice any word on how fishing is and how thick ice is
-
Any information on ice conditions?
TIA,
Eric

When I was by didn't have time to go out on ice . Lake was completely frozen and fiskerman were in the places that ice over last . My guess is 6 to 8 inches of ice now . No report on success . The last few years have been slow early and better late .
-
I am heading up tomorrow. Not to early though.
-
Good clear ice. About 8 in. Iced 5 pike
-
Any size to um .

14 inches of ice all fish released to swim another day.
-
I fished there yesterday and today lots of bluegills some decent perch 2 crappies and some pike fun trip
-
I am tentatively planning a trip up there February 17-18. From reading past reports, it sounds like the ice starts turning to crap about that time. Any truth to that, or can I still plan on having good ice?
-
It varies year to year. I've gone into march and had decent ice.
-
I am heading up this weekend with my kids, they love chasing tip-ups by the dam but I would like to find the perch and blue gill. Any suggestions where they are? I found good numbers this summer near the camp ground with the RV hook-ups.
Thanks
-
Was there Saturday. Ice is 18 inches. Did good. Caught 38 1/2 in northern 32 1/2 in northern some smaller northers and some perch and bluegills.
-
Is there enough snow on box butte for snowmobiles?
-
There was one there Saturday. Everything else was 4 wheelers. Not much snow
-
does anyone ever catch walleye there? looking at the netting reports, it seems there is a fair population in there.
-
I've caught walleyes there but never a lot I think the most I caught in one day was 4
-
There were two snowmobiles down west sunday. Lake was pretty vacant monday. The vast majority of people have been fishing Hunter's and the west access. As to the walleye I think you're better off open water, go chase pike and panfish through the ice.

Have caught one walleye on the ice there. It was right after I'd caught some panfish back to back so I think the commotion may have attracted the walleye. That's happened a lot with pike there. Catch a few panfish within a few minutes of each other and a pike will come hammer what's down the hole. Kinda kills the panfish bite for awhile.
I've had more success walleye fishing there during open water season. The fishing forecast looks promising for a lot of western Nebraska lakes.

Find the river channel and run minnows on tips ups... while jigging up a pig.

Any reports, haven't been up for two weeks, gills still bitting? I've? Not asking for your spot, I got that covered. Just need the basics please!
-
A week ago: not as good as before, still enough for a meal
-
Thinking about heading down this weekend how is the ice.
-
Fished on 1-28-17 caught 15 nice crappie between 3 of us 12-14" of ice.

how is the ice holding up. looks like the Temps have been pretty warm in alliance during the day, but night Temps are in the 20s. I am heading down there on February 17-18, will there be good ice still?
-
Ice will there but getting on and off may be a problem . 60s today and two days forecast 65 to 67 this week 50s this weekend .
-
damn, that sucks. Already have time off work and a hotel room booked. When the edges go, can a guy still get on with waders, or does it get deep fast?
-
There always seems to be a place to get on , you might have to walk a ways . I haven't been back for two weeks but may be that way this week . If I get there I will pass on info .
-
Going on Saturday, will post ice conditions for you.
-
thanks guys. I'm not opposed to walking a little to get on.
-
12 inches , water on top but good ice . Edges surprisingly good . Temp at 66 now so use caution .
-
On the west end Saturday still 12-14" of ice, starting to honeycomb though. Very muddy needed
8' plank and a pallet to get off. We did well nice crappie, bluegill and a couple perch.
It's been in the low to mid 20s last couple nights, should be good for a few more days
I would think.
-
thanks for the reports guys, but I decided to cancel my trip and go look for deer antlers instead. next year I'll go in January.
-
How close is Box to being fishable? Any ice at all?
-
There is basically no ice on Box Butte. Going to be a while I'm afraid if at all.
-
Think we will have ice by Friday?
-
Was up there yesterday and there was 4 - 5" of good ice around boat dock area. After these next couple days and nites there should be a couple more inches by Friday.

With these temps, it must have added 4 inches I would think. Tomorrow will tell.
-
I’ll be up there tomorrow as well, I’ll post a report.
-
Yesterday 6-7" ice off boat dock, 3 to 4" snow cover didn't make it to Hunters point, there were huts up that way. A few for the frying pan
-
Saw 5-7 inches by the dam in 8-20 feet of water. Lake looks very low. One nibble in 3 hours. If someone wants to throw me a bone and gimme a clue as to what works here that’d be rad.
-
4 in of ice off hunters. I wouldn't go to far out though. Blue gill were biting and one decent perch.

I was using a wonder bread jig with a waxie. Caught 10 nice gills and threw a few smaller ones back. About 9 FOW. Off Hunters

Thank you. Is hunters on the west end, where I saw a few people In the distance?

FYI For those who might be headed Box Butte Friday 12/29 or the next couple days might take notice.... Ice thickness really varies and they started to discharge a pretty good stream of water out of it this afternoon to get it back to the level they want to maintain through out this next year. They are discharging what is needed and then shutting off until it needs lowered again. Obviously there is no notice or signage saying when it happens. I am going to say in the next couple days there might be some major shifts in the ice or it might not affect it much at all. Just be careful. Be safe. Funtwohunt

Yes
Rad. I’ll be out there tomorrow morning with my girl and son. Thanks for the tips!

Fished hunters today 4" ice, little sketchy so didn't even run heat in hut. Started down west and had 3" standing water in hut so moved further east. Few nice gills and a perch, called it early as wind started blowing pretty good
