Hard side runner ideas
« on: Dec 20, 2012, 07:25 PM »
I am looking for runner ideas for a hard side I am building.  6x8, 2x2 framing, 1/4 in plywood.

Want some clearance but also enough surface area to slide easier.  I was thinking of taking a 2x10 and attaching a 2x6 horizontally (think upside down T) under it.  That would give clearance and a wider surface area.  Thoughts?  Too heavy?  Want to keep it fairly light but also easy to move in snow.  What are you using or have seen?

Sounds like that would work good for the clearance. You might want to screw some skis to the runners or plastic.Thats what we did on a 8x10 moves good on the ice.

I second the skis idea.   I would go so far as to change the size of the shed to get the skis under it. A tall ski would be maybe 8 feet maybe. The shed can hang over the skis on each end some.

I was planning on adding 1/8 thick hdpe or uhmw to the bottom.
