Any Safe Ice In CT?
« on: Jan 09, 2019, 08:59 AM »
Looking to get out this weekend for some perch. I don’t mind heading north until I hit ice. Does anyone know of anyone lakes/ponds in CT that should be okay for Saturday? If not, could someone suggest somewhere north maybe in MA, NH, or southern VT that would be safe? I really appreciate any help!

I checked woodcreek out online. It looks really shallow. Does anyone know if there is a yellow perch population in there? Really hoping to get on some perch Saturday.

  There will be at least one small perch lake that will have safe ice in north eastern Ct on Sat but I only fish it at first ice and on weekdays. Hint, you can fish it with a CT or RI fishing License.

I've been waiting to take a Friday-after-work scouting ride all winter. Looks like today's the day.

My report on another thread;
Tyler has 1.5" at the launch at 3:00 pm today. Mostly locked up. Dog mostly open, Stillwater open with heavy skim by the dam, Woodcreek has 6" of grey ice in front of the launch and one open cove that I could see.

Shaw Pond in Becket, Mass was 6 inches last Sunday and I can only imagine more ice by this weekend. If you're near western mass, its definitely fishable

Anyone find any good ice in CT today? I found 12 inches of ice in VT but fishing has been really slow.

went to check that pond this afternoon. It froze really funny with a line of snow ice right down the middle over the deepest water. If you do go there be very careful.  Spud,spud and spud some more.

Fished Wood Creek Pond in Norfolk today. Up to 6" of ice near the boat launch     and within the cove,  but it thins to 3" out on the main body of the pond.

This pond saw allot of pressure today 20+ people. Good pond for pickerel. I managed to get one  out of that ice that looked like Swiss Cheese.

Anybody find any ice today in CT? Heard of a lot skimming over in the past two days. If anyone has a good recommendation of a pond for some perch fishing please let me know. I think my typical perch lakes are still going to be unsafe at least for the next several days.

Been heading up to NH the last three weekends, well over a foot of ice up north, and enough fat rainbows to keep busy . we did well on two of our go to lakes...two salmon/ quick releases. three+ hour drive from East Lyme, but plenty of ice. Need a cold snap soon.
