Colorado > Ice Fishing Colorado
First Ice Is Nice!!!!!
NewToTheIce:
WARNING!
ICE IS NOT SAFE!
DON'T DO WHAT I DID!
I'M STUPID AND HAVE NO REGARD FOR MY OWN SAFTEY!
Alright now that thats out of the way. After a little searching and a little hiking I found some "safe" ice and some willing brookies around 11,000ft.
Ice was maybe 2 inches at shore and thinner as you went out. Lots of cracks and super thin ice everywhere. I found a spot where I could get maybe 5 feet off shore. In about 1-2 feet of water. I caught 3 brookies in 30 minutes and then I heard a loud "ice groan" and my right foot fell through the ice. I decided to call it a day after that.
There was not alot of snow on the trail.
I came home to one angry puppy.
She couldn't belive I went fishing with out her. I told her it was for her own saftey but she was pissed.
