Lightbulb - 1999 Ski Doo Touring
« on: Oct 04, 2020, 08:47 AM »
Hi All - my headlight bulb needs to be replaced on my 1999 Ski Doo SLE. It look alike the bulb should just pull from the plastic connector - but I can’t get it to budge.

Any tips / guidance?

Thanks!

Tip #1: Your voltage regulator is probably fried- that is usually why the bulbs start to go.

Tip #2: There are spring clips  or a bulb retaining ring that holds  the bulb in place in the housing. Spring clips pry off, the retaining ring twists off.

Thanks for the tip on the voltage regulator.

I should have been a bit more specific, I can’t remove the three prongs from the plastic receiver.  Any thoughts?

I did look in the shop manual and saw about the spring clips.

Might be rusted in there, a little penetrating oil sprayed in there and let it sit should free it up.

Thanks - that did the trick!  I just ordered a new housing it looks like the plastic clip connecting to the metal crossbar broke.  I am thinking that I may have broke the bulb not realizing the housing was loose.
