Magog pike
« on: Feb 28, 2021, 07:04 PM »
Any tips on where to go on magog for pike? I always hear about south bay but people also say it's usually packed. I can go on a weekday to solve that issue but I wanted to know if there were different spots to try. Also what depths people are finding them at and how deep you run your bait. A lot of times I run all but 2 of my bait no more than 15 feet below the ice when targeting trout or salmon

Pike are being caught all over the lake now.
You can catch trout and pike out of the same hole. Strawberry acres has been productive this year.

If you want pike. Go to South Bay. It’s busy sometimes but they are always catching fish there. One time we even caught a smoker of a brown trout there too.

We caught a 42 3/4 inch, 20 pound Pike last weekend. They have been hitting all over the lake this year. South Bay consistently produces them. Some days it crowded there, other days not bad at all. Pike are being caught at Strawberry Acres and around the twins as well. The big Pike we caught was in less than 10 feet of water. When fishing 10 - 15 ft., I just put the bait 2-3 ft. under the ice. Deeper water, four feet off the bottom. We use quick strike rigs with dead smelt.

Thanks everyone for the help! Went up there today and caught 3 pike biggest being just under 27" and around 4.5 lbs. The other two were 22" and 23.5" and I also caught 3 jumbo yellow perch biggest being 11.5". Had tons of fun this afternoon!
