I wouldn’t trust anything in mass. If you still have the itch then take the extra couple hours and go fish up north.

I can only hope that everyone takes your advice so the lake we will be fishing on in MA this weekend won't be so crowded!!

This is why we have spud bars.  So the couch pilots can guess while we enjoy those killer late ice bites.

I was on 14” yesterday on a different ct river setback.. it was melting fast but edges were tight to shore.
No flags but 1 decent bass and about sixty perch on the jig rod.

I was on 3 - 4 inches today in Sturbridge Mass and it was honey coned bad, when you put one foot down in some spots the water would come up . I left at 11am i called it a day. Tommorw is my lasted day toinight its supposed to be 26 degrees so it will tighten up. Kiss the ice goodbye untill next season.

3-4” of honeycomb with water coming through...  next step of hardcoreness is riding an ice cube trolling your jig rods with your auger as a propeller.

That’s life jacket fishing.  :o :o

There was a guy on here earlier this season lieing about the Oxbow being unsafe to keep people away. "Weeding out the weak" i believe is what he called it.

Moral of the story.. Check the ice for yourself..Dont rely on the internet unless you know the person giving the report personally.

I believe it, the oxbow loses ice completely non-uniformly sometimes.
Underlines the importance of spudding. Could be standing on safe ice with danger only steps away

If the guy went thru into 20ft of water he is a idiot cause he was where the river comes out into the coveand was probably walking very close to open water.  I've said this prob 5 times on here!! The Obow water level is controlled by the holyoke dam..... If they slow the flow over the dam then the water rises in the cove. Which causes you to lose the edges and then floods the parking lot. The obow holds ice very well i have fished it usually one time a week this year and have had 0 as in zero issues. With that being said with the warm weather we have had lately if you stay away from the points of the sand bars and away from the bubblers for the boats and away from the river channel you will not have any problems. This is why people go thru they don't use common sense.  As far as the guy early in the year giving false info i tend to agree with that but there are a few people on this site that like to give false info like they swear up and down that they have caught pike in such and such a body of water and they PM you and give you areas to fish then a week later they post asking if anyone knows where to catch pike or asking for any info on bodies of water that they just told you about a week before hand. If your worried about ice take precautions stay away from open water and river channels and you will have no issues. ::) I will correct my statement to show that he went in 20ft from shore not 20ft of water. but still would have to say he was near the open water or where the channel cuts thru.

Went by a CT set back on the way home from Champlain yesterday. Ice was still tight to the shore. I'll be heading to the Berks this weekend. Was on up to 18" on Champlain this past weekend. Only problem was the access areas are getting torn up from trucks going on and off. A little cold weather and the ice up there will last through March. I for see another run up for a day.

I just went down there to spud around and still 14” in the inner cove.. bout 5” of junk but solid past that.
Might be worth spending a little time there this week before the water comes up killing the edges.

Good to know. Thanks. Might be an option for Sunday if I don't head to the Berks
