Checking in at Wausau. It's got to start cooling down soon. Got a new Vex 28 that I'm ready to use.

Figured I'd post over here, I'm a Minnesota boy so don't kick me out right away ;) But I head up to the Barron/Sawyer County area several times a summer. Hoping to get up there more in the winter  :icefish:

OK TCF, as long as you don't proclaim yourself a Viqueen fan I'll extend a hand  ;)2. I fish mostly SE and NE so it's not likely our paths will cross.  Welcome anyway and thanks for chippin' in on the WI board!

For the rest of you "natives" welcome Cheeseheads!

@ wideerlaker: where's school and are you down here all season? I'm in the "Lake Country" so it's a pretty target rich environment but with high pressure. PM me and I'll help where I can.

Checking in from Oshkosh WI! I tell myself every year that I won't get ahead of myself, enjoy the rut and all that is Fall. But here I am pulling out my gear and picking dead spikes off my favorite lures. It's only October!! Come on ice!!

I have had some snow on the ground in my back yard since Friday morning. Looking good if it stays cold. I’m hoping to be on ice by the end of deer season.

Thanks for the update 52! Trouble is lately it's only been a teaser. A warm up around Thanksgiving that lasts till who knows when. If I can walk on somewhere north of 70 by December I'll be happy (wait, very happy!).

You guys cast, troll or drag meat for 'skis? I found a couple in September, a 38 and one just over 44. Good times!

We were 2-2 suckers and baits. My boat spent most time trolling or drifting suckers. Love the new rules that allow using the tm and habing suckers out. My jam is drifting and using the tm for boat control.

Made one last softwater outing yesterday in SE WI. Released one small northern. Will patiently wait for good ice and hope that it sticks around this year for a long time.

Smaller lakes up in NE WI are beginning to see ice cover. Could they be fishing by this weekend on 3"?

I'd bet the smaller, shallower lakes will have 3" of ice by this weekend. Heard some already have up to 1" and the next two days in the teens and single digits should thicken it up nicely. The warm-up next week will probably keep the bigger lakes open for another couple weeks unfortunately.
Da Pack!

I would like to welcome all the new members and welcome back all the guys who have been here before. Let's try and make the Wisconsin thread, one of the most active, here on the shanty. If I can be of any help just ask, if I can't help you I am sure someone here will be able to.

Checking in from Beaver Dam. Everything is frozen and the smaller bodies of water have several inches of ice. Probably a bit more now with the cold front we had move through last night.
