Sponge balls on treble?
« on: Feb 07, 2010, 03:48 PM »
Around here some swap out their trebles on their jigs for ones with white pearls as an extra attractant. These are hard pearls which don't hold scent well.
So got to thinking if you pushed a white sponge ball over the treble shaft it would act as an attractant but also hold scent longer. I bought some cheap make-up sponges and trimmed them into balls.(6 per sponge) I found if you squeeze the air out of the sponge and let it fill with water or scent floating is not an issue.
Next comes the on ice trial the next time out.
Anyone try something similar? Any ideas on how effective this may be?

Best Wishes: Rick

Seems kind of like what they use for catfishing to hold scent. Works in theory, hopefully the fish like it.

go to an arts / crafts store or Walmart.  You can find small yarn balls that work very well for holding scent.

You can get them in all kinds of colors, sizes.  I even bought some that have glitter.

They hold scent well, and are very cheap.

Hope this helps,

Wiener:Defiantly something to look into.Different colour options I like.
Hard to beat the price if my sponge balls though. Enough sponge for 72 balls for $1.50.
