Finally some cold weather...
« on: Nov 06, 2007, 09:32 AM »
Good to be back...but once again...I have to replace some stupid holes in the shanty....but its not from the mice...my last outting last year I was on my way back and some of the shanty fell out and I ended up dragging it accross the pavement...so I gotta pay for my stupidity...

Hey Tommyboy:

What kind of shanty do you have? If its a clam type they have their replacement tents on sale at their
website,  http://www.clamcorpstore.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=291

Dach

PS: $50 for most of the older types

I had a problem again too, also not the mice this time.

The plastic windows on my shappell cracked wide open.

Was prolly the third time I went out and I was up in caddy, so I had no choice but use it anyway and of course the tighter I stretched it, the more it cracked. It's been reduced to little more than a sled/ wind break now  :'(

Slime, why not get some Liquid nails and install some plexiglass windows to replace it? would make a good replacement....

I think I'm just gonna go with a new shanty anyway.
But I wonder if that would work? It's a portable of course, so all soft sided. . .

Maybe some heavy plastic sheeting or something kinda similar to what they originaly had in there?  I dunno.

Know a couple of guys that used clear packaging tape inside and out on their Shappells windows that cracked. Seems to being holding up reasonably well.

LMAO! yeah, duct tape took care of the mouse holes. And believe me, I'm cheap enough to do it to the windows too! lol.

Gettin' down in the 20's now guys, maybe I can get out on the ice before the first of the year.  ::)  ::)

I have a DX 4000 about 4 yrs old only used about a dozen times, no problems so far. Mainly for when my kids or grand kids are along.

Have a old Trap I bought in '92, my main fishing shelter used many, many times a year. No holes or problems yet.

Picked up a Pack Shack last year for those quickie fishin' trips or when I have to hike in, only used it a few times last year but it's still in good shape, really worried about the chair but if I don't abuse it it should last.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the old "Minute Man" I have Up north, my son uses it when he's up there and I'm not. Lost the cross piece but replaced it with a 1 x 2 cut to length and it still works well. No holes or cracked windows there and it has to be at least 25 yrs old.

What the heck do you guys do to your poor shanties.  ???  ???

I admit Quack, I'm rough on my stuff. I dun have a garage, so it's a real BI*#$ dgagging stuff to the basement everytime. So. unfortunately, stuff gets "stored" in the back of my truck or outside.
But I still gut duct tape!  ;D
