How Do Glo Jigs Work?
« on: Dec 22, 2012, 01:10 PM »
May sound like a dumb question, but I have some glo jigs and when I'm fishing them deep during the day are they glowing because of the exposure they had to the sunlight or do you have to charge them with a light?  If using them at night, does a regular flashlight charge them, or do I have to buy a special light ?  If so, what type of light do you recommend and where do you get them?  Thanks for any info.

I only use glow jigs as soon as the sunsets. You can go to any bait shop and buy a special light like a Tazor or any very bright LED light will work. Last night I caught 15 Crappie on a glow jig while my buddy only caught 3 without one.

Vexilar light works fine so does a flash light. Have used key chain light before with no problem. Remember some colors glow better than others.

Any light source will work.
Relight anytime lure comes out of hole.
Greens seem to hold light the longest.

Try using the flash from an old disposable camera. Its alot quicker than a flashlight.

Glow jigs are great for stained water too. I like glow red for crappies. That lurelightning  light that replaces a gimbal knob is a very nice light.
