Silver Lake in Oceana county
« on: Dec 27, 2007, 10:38 AM »
I took a drive out to Silver Lake last night and seen quite a few guys out trying their luck.  Did not talk to anyone but I'm sure most were after walleye.  I'm wondering if anybody knows if they are getting any perch or crappie though.  Thinking about trying it this weekend and looking to see what's up with the action there.  Last year we slay ed the crappie and a few walleyes.  This past summer while trolling for walleye on Silver we did land some nice perch.  Hoping to find them on the hard water this year.

Does anybody know the thickness of the ice? And how far out were those guys you saw?

Most were out beyond the wee edge in 13 to 17 foot of water.  Although there is not a definite weed line like the old days.  There was one shanty over by the south end near the dunes even.  I would like an idea on the ice conditions still too.
