Hey guys, I'm new to the area and I live in Napanee.  My buddy and I are going to Beaver Lake on Saturday.  Any info would help thanks.  I have read all the posts as of 1 Jan 2012.  You seem like a great bunch.  Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you on the ice.

Cheers,

Super, thanks.  By the way I was out near Belleville on Saturday and drove to Anne's pointe.  There were a few portable huts out there, 6-7 huts for sure .

Just in case someone was checking, I am from Kingston and anxiously awaiting the season start.  With all this warmth we've had this season, I'm more than a little cautious about venturing out on thin ice.  I will be heading to Quinte Bay for the Battle of the Bay for round two of that event ;provided the conditions of the ice remain where they are at 10 to 11 inches.  Hope to see some of you folks out there too.  Cheers and have a great day with tight lines!

Hey Cadeuses, welcome to the shanty! Just a note, although we've had a milder than normal winter this year, there are plenty of back lakes that have tons of safe ice. Spud your way as always but plenty of good fishing to be had! :)

Cheers!

It was fun and thrilling until it did the usual pike roll over by the hole.  It was also fun getting it through my iced over 6" hole!  I augered it out to about 4-5 inches and snuck the pike through that!  I was worried I would have to lip him to get him out  :o

Ha ouch, that would not be fun (lipping a pike)!

you can access it off Moreland-Dixon rd - it's pretty obvious where folks have been driving through the field.  I think you have to pay at the house across the street (one with ramp to Collins) but I'm not entirely sure.

I've seen a LOT of permys there...what are they fishing for in there?  According to the ministry, it's only gills, perchand bass in there  ???

I was just told there is pike in inverary which would make sence as collins is right full of them.  So you would pay at the collins boat launch?

I know, I have my other hut there.  The past 2 years have been going downhill, I think there is too much rpessure there now.  AFAIK my buddies who are there everyday have caught 3 or 4 pike all winter,.

That's where my other hut is....don't bother, it sucks there  ;D

JK, there are I think 5 huts there now, but I have honestly only seen anybody in one other than myself.  Sometimes there is a guy in a blue tarp hut, and a couple bucket sitters show up on weekends, thats it.  If you are fishing for pike, keep it away from the huts so that I can get the perch :)

Gents,
I ventured out to Silver lake, landed 4 mackinaws and lost 3. I was the only soul out there. Ice is not bad, mostly about 11 to 8 inches but I did manage to find a spot with about 3 inches.. That is too thin for my liking, especially over 80 fow. All in all a great day, just wish I got out earlier.
Hopefully we don'd get any rain tonight.

Yes, it is a lake trout. Many call it that up in the NWT, where the monsters live.

Otherwise, there are some perch and sunnys/gills, few pike (rare but large if you get one). I heard of the eyes but have never seen one there. Probably a myth. Some ciscos too but rather small.
Cheers.

You will catch some then for sure.  They are a little wormey, just sayin'.  You can pick them out once you skin or fillet them though, so no worries.
