Same here.. Out off of eagle point right next to gull island.. Big whites and more smelt than you can handle! It was great except the fact that we were trying for lakers

Hard to get the lakers to bite when you are over run with smelt I think, I did see a guy land what looked to be a 28-30" laker in the group of shanties near the islands. We were just perching Friday and the lake did not disappoint.

Yea I think your right.. We caught plenty of perch as well.. One hit a 7" smelt I was deadsticking weighed around 3/4 of a pound

We also hit some nice yellows 4 of them were 13" and the rest we kept were anywhere from 8-11". Pretty impressive you had one hit a 7" smelt, but they can be aggressive, and greedy when they are feeding lol.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm just seeing this., there's about 6-8" of good clear ice as far as I've walked out (which is to 40-50 fow)
I'm not sure where your waking on from but there Are a couple hairy pressure cracks around van everest and eagle mountain.. Easily crossed on foot, just be weary..

Bite has definitely been slower compared to last year.. Most of the bigger perch are spitting up small bait I believe are alewife.. So I'm assuming they are chasing that around which makes them pretty nomadic.. We'll try and dial them in the next few weeks!
