Bait shops in Wyoming County
« on: Jan 10, 2022, 07:32 AM »
Anybody know of any bait shops in the Tunkhannock Area?  Brady’s closed and that was the only one I knew of around there.
Thanks in advance.

There is one called Sible & Sons Bait & Tackle in Laceyville.  Never been there myself, so I don’t know how good it is.

Check out the bait shop thread at the top of the Ice Fishing PA forum. We started it last year so it should be pretty up to date. One of our members even created a map of the various shops so you can quickly look for one in your area or where you are fishing.

My son went to Sible’s in Laceyville last year. He said it was good and they do sell minnows/shiners. It may be a bit of a drive from Tunkhannock but it is an option.

If you can’t find anything in your area and are in a pinch, a pet store is always an option. They usually carry all types of creepy crawlies (worms, mealworms, butter worms, wax worms. etc.) and many will carry rosy reds. They’re small but are a good option for panfish and trout if there’s no other bait available.

Hope this helps!

It does, thanks. I started the thread before I noticed the one up top.
That’s really nice with the maps and all. Good job

I can’t take credit for the map. Another member added it and it is a great tool. I did however suggest the permanent thread so I’ll take a partial assist.

If you know of any shops that aren’t on the list, please add them. As you know, we’ve lost many shops over the years and it’s getting more difficult to find bait - especially in winter months.

Brady and cavany relocated next to burger King if you haven't been around in quite a few years brov in the old Walmart jus remember to check the temp qnd ice them or let them cool bc when I got some last year there water was room temp and when I dropped em in lake waters just went into shock and died. They usually have bait tho as of last yr and tend to mostly through the year.

Brady & Cavany apparently shut down for good in December.  Check out their facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/Brady-and-Cavany-ACE-Hardware-565510056820259/
