Author Topic: Deep Creek Maryland Rodeo POSTPONED!!! (Read 14198 times)

There's been a good bit of IM's, posts, and chit chat about having a rodeo at Deep Creek, MD this year. Some of you PA guys have fished this lake and know how good it can be. For me it's about a 3.5 hour drive. Normally, that's in my day trip range, but I'd stay for a few days for a Rodeo type thing. We had lot's of fun at the Pack last year so maybe some of you can make it to this thing if we can plan it effectively. Of course, weather will dictate exactly when we can hold it, but perhaps mid January?

Who's interested? It would be a good way to meet some of the Maryland crowd that you've seen post on here...

Sounds good Kevin. I have been dying to fish this lake. A few friends and I were actually looking at cottage rentals yesterday on the internet. We found some nice little cottages around the Sky Valley area. Maybe if we can get enough guys to spend a few nights we can get one of those big mansions that sleep like 10 or 15 people. God Willing, I'm in. Last year Bean fished it in a tournament and had a good time. Maybe we could hold the get-together then and fish the tourney. If were lucky, maybe IS could sweep the winning's

IBO, it's in Garret County Maryland. It is located right next to Wisp ski resort.

Boy, wish I could do this one, I have been following Deep Creek posts for some time and it seems like a great lake. Unfortunatly, January is way too hectic for me this year. BTW, nice pics you put on RS.

Well, if you can't make it in January perhaps we can coax you there another time during the hardwater season. I plan to fish this lake a lot more than I have.

Don't worry Jim, I'll keep y'all (y'ins or youz) in the loop on every bit of planning. Bean and I were thinking that maybe the weekend of 1/28 would be good. There's also an ice tourney on 1/29, maybe IS folks can put in a good showing there! Nothing is set in stone yet, but when it is we'll make sure that it's set on this forum too

this rodeo sounds like it will be a blast! Me and a friend will be there, but would like some more info on deep creek, i.e. a good place to park vehicle and where on the lake the rodeo will take place. also where to do a little prefishing. never fished there.

go down RT 40 just like your going to Highpoint but dont turn at 523
follow 40 about anoither 7 miles i guess you'll see signs for 63 thers a casstation on the corner and a mcdonalds
right turn there go straight u run right into it
u name a time we'll hook up and head down some sat as soon as theres ice

Slider, what is the word on booking the cabin. I would like to have at least 4 definate people before I book it. I called the rental agency and they told me that any changes less than 30 days to arrival is considered a cancellation. This would also include changing dates. All the deposit money would be lost except for $75.00 unless they could re-rent the cabin at no loss to the owner for the same dates. Should I go for it or wait.

Pletch, I believe the tourny is held in front of Bill's Outdoor Center, right on Rt. 219.

Slider, I have not talked to them yet to see what they thought. We could wait and see if there is going to be ice a couple weeks prior and see if the cabin is still available. I would think most of the cabins get rented by skiers in the winter, but this cabin is not near the ski resort. If this exact cabin is not available maybe we could get a bigger one if more guys are looking to come and do not have a place to stay.

I m not sure what to do though mabe Fatboy could give us some guidance on it
and i'll check in the md rooms see if i can find oput the chances of a no ice situation
