Has anyone ever "tricked out" their power auger? Any mods for more power?

I have a jiffy a sharp blade, but have wondered what its full potential is.

Beware of Warranty issues by "tricking it out".

good point Mugz

another point is how much faster do you really need to drill a hole?...I worry more about reliability in starting and running well.....worse case scenario for drill time in thick ice is maybe 10-15 seconds...

If you want to get a little more out of your auger first try using Amsoil , you can mix it at 100:1,although I mix mine at 80:1 and it runs great. I know mine has more power since I started  using it.More power and less smoke.

I tried putting the motor from my 74 sportster on my jiffy but I
needed a step ladder to kick start it!!

The "trick" is to have it start consistantly and run while your ice fishing. Ever get all the way out here and not have your auger start ??????????

   I have a StrikeMaster and it has a Tecumseh as does the Jiffy. I wanted to get it to run faster like you. I remembered the days of having a mini bike and replacing the governor spring with a piece of coat hanger and speeding past my friends. So what I did was carefully remove the governor spring and cut off about 25% of it and "CAREFULLY" stretching it back to its original length. I get a lot more speed out of it now and it starts much faster. It is not that easy to do so be carefull!
I pratice fillet and release!

Danderson, did you make more holes in the muffler or enlarge the exhaust port?.
