So I got these tip ups for a present, and four out of five have this problem, can't slide down the plastic any further...makes a tip up kind of useless if the flag can't go off, think this would be one thing that would be checked.. You put this along with my new eskimo Z71 that **** the bed, and I'm having a crappy year with gear.

You can't, the tension from resting on the plastic causes it to not trip, if you mean pull it up out of the hole...I tried that and the flag goes flying out when it trips, doesn't seem like a answer to me.

that plastic thing that the flag tip is in is for when it's being transported. Remove the tip of the flag from that plastic holder, set it in the metal clip, and then when the spool moves, it lets the flag go up. The flag is supposed to go flying up when it trips!! Point it away from your face!!

You need to remove the screw below it. You will probably have to remove the assembly to do that, then check to see if the plastic part will in fact slide. Reposition the screw on the main wood part

yeah, I can't remove the assembly without bending it because the screws above it are blocked by the "u clips metal things" that prevent wind flags.

i'm aware of that, look closer at the pic, you can't slide down the plastic anymore

Cut a 1/2 inch off the flag shaft.

don't need to. can fix all 4 traps in less than 10 min.

That screw was a nice upgrade. I dont have them on mine and it was added because the lock would slide all the way down during fishing and when you pick up and put away, the ice at the water line prevents sliding back up to lock in the flag....I need an upgrade...

I've been using an elastic, they would slide down in my backpack and all my flags would pop

Mike, thanks for the traps. They got dsome good use this season. Caught my PB Large mouth 3 different times this season with limited trips out (only got ouy bout 10 times). Never got a skunk and never got a wind flag. Love my IH's.

exactly what im thinking. that plastic piece is for closing up shop and heading home, stay organized
