Blade baits for Channel Cats
« on: Dec 03, 2011, 03:27 PM »
Over the years, got my share of Channel Cats on tip-ups but, the majority of Channel Cats came while jigging a blade bait, in a channel, in the deepest water in the area I'm fishing. After a couple of rips with the blade bait and it settles back down near the bottom, the next time I go to rip it, I feel the weight and he's on. I don't feel the hit at all, it seems they just suck it in and sit there until you try to rip it. Anyone else experience this?

Yep, sometimes they just will mouth a bait and not move a darn bit.
So many fish, so little time.

I have not caught a catfish with a bladebait, but even with a spoon they do sometimes bite very light.  I call it, them kissing the bait.  So sometimes I merely just set the hook and it catches them on the lips.
