No it is not true. From page 5 of the 2018-2019 regulations:

Northern pike: 5 fish, minimum size limit 18 inches. (But
see exception at Part II, Section 3 E (2) for Lower Flathead
River).

This is the Flathead section on page 6 that is referred to above:

Northern pike: 15 fish any length from Se̓liš
Ksanka Ql̓ispe̓ (SKQ) Dam (formerly Kerr Dam)
downstream to the Reservation Boundary

I would encourage people to read the regulations as it is your responsibility to know them: http://www.csktribes.org/component/rsfiles/download-file/files?path=NRD%2F2018-2019+Hunting+Fishing+and+Recreation+Regulations+for+Non-Members.pdf

no size limit on the lower river, all other bodies of water as of right now 18'' minimum....they are revisiting some of the restrictions due to introduction of the pike into certain waters.  trust me we work with them daily where i work and we have asked multiple times.

How is Se̓liš Ksanka Ql̓ispe̓  actually pronounced?

And how does a dam in Montana get a Croatian name?

its a combination of salish, kootenai, and Pend d’Oreille.
pronounced: SEH-leesh, k-SAHN-kah and q-leese-PEH Dam
essentially they named the dam for the 3 tribes that make up the Counterfeited Salish and Kootenai Tribes aka CSKT

And how does a dam in Montana get a Croatian name?

its not Croatian, its the language of the tribes in the area. a simple google search will not translate native language, it will however get the closest thing that it "looks" like. Grew up here and learned abit of the Salish part of it. also the dam if you look at my other post is a combination of the 3 main languages spoken here before the missionaries etc came in.

Yup alot of the language is past down via verbal teachings. there has been alot of time and effort put into putting this language and the others into actual text and written down to try and preserve it. Really cool to see the development of it since i was first in class in mission for the language then again in college. Also another big thing is that the language may be spoken different by different bands of the respective tribe. Its all about what family etc they learned it from and how it was taught to them. so you have dialects of the same language even in a very "small" area that was the originally occupied by the tribes.

Of course! Google translate couldn't, pegged as Croatian  :roflmao:  ::)

Add on - I had this typed to post right behind missoula's reply #7. At least one of you beat me to posting so when I hit "Post" my reply didn't because of the message the I may want to modify my reply. Didn't see it and left the page, did some other stuff re-looked at the thread to find my reply didn't.

This happens fairly often (mostly because I can be a little verbose). How do you recover what might be 15 minutes or more or thought process and typing? In Chrome, if you hover over the "New Tab" thingy at the top, right click and select "Reopen Closed Tab" you can get to it. Might have to go through everything else you did after that reply tab closed but you'll get there. Eventually one will open with a "Reconfirm Submission" message, click OK and reload the page. Voila! Unposted reply in it's entirety complete with "Modify Message" warning. Click Post and it does, except not where you'd intended but at the end of the thread.

I haven't called the warden, but the fwp regulations and the tribal regulations both have stated limits in writing.  I would follow that over what someone verbally "told me".  That is the safest way to stay out of trouble.
