Title: best time ?
Post by: Brookie442 on Jan 12, 2014, 01:52 PM
I have the morning off tomorrow and was wondering if the morning bite is worth getting up super early for and setting up before sunrise?

I like setting up in the afternoon better so you can drill out the shallow areas the fish will be coming into as the sun sets.  If the fish are already shallow and you start drilling it may blow them out of the area.  I have had success setting up in say 20fow and intercepting them as they move back out to deeper water in the early morning.  Either way its better than wishing you had gone.  Best of luck.

I have had good luck getting set up an hour before light and coasting into the morning. I am not going to say it is better than the evening bite but, if I have the time I will never pass up the first light morning bite.

We get a bunch of walleye at Deep creek lake in maryland and it seems the best time is an hour before sunset. I would say 90% of the walleye are at this time in the shallows.
