smelt fishing number 2
« on: Jan 25, 2011, 08:08 PM »
I used to rent a shanty from marvin barrow's in panton, vermont. This would be lake champlain fishing and when the smelt  were running you could get between 40-60 pounds a day between 2 people. Is there still any one who rents shanties for smelt fishing on lake champlain on the vermont side? I would appreciate any info. thanks!!!

It's a shame Marvin passed away, I've rented his cabins for many years. I started going there back in the late seventies, he was likely the last real Vermonter to own land in that section of lake, it's all doctors, lawyers, and stock traders now. I doubt any of them are going to drag 80 shanties out on the ice with a tractor lol
