Sorry to see your new shanty has suffered what looks like wind damage thankfully it looks repairable and it is only June. You must of had some strong winds to flip the shanty on it's side.

That is horrible!  Keep your head up..... rebuild, that shack will bring you good luck if you rebuild..... just my opinion. I had a tree fall on my travel trailer one year, and my homeowners insurance covered it, we were able to buy a new one. Not sure if this applys to you.... probably not  but maybe worth checkin.

Good luck, I hope you rebuild..... it is an awesome shack!

Thanks guys for all the sympathy. I am going to fix it and keep going I actualy had to get away from all the cleanup work in my yard today so I went and spent another $425 ish on parts.lol. Dont tell anyone. But ya I got her upright and the damage isn't so bad. I just have to completely rebuild the nose and re wire the trailer lights airs through the tounge to the truck hook up as well as replace some of the marker lights on the sides. I will post pics of my rebuild as I go. thanks.

DA man cave you are welcome sir never easy to see a project someone has spent time and money on damaged or ruined. I have seen on other shacks reinforced areas with guy lines attached and fastened to boards or pipes submerged under the ice. When you rebuild maybe you can do something similar and also come up with some system to tie down the shack while it is in storage.

here are some pics of the damage once i got it back upright.

In all from what I can tell the damage was not that bad it is just a pain in the butt to have to do things twice and straighten the whole thing out.

big question is,if it can't handle a windstorm how will it handle 65-70 MPH going to the lake???

Well the wind came from a direction that hit it directly in the side, when going to the lake all the wind will be against the v of the nose and should be cut a lot easyer than a big flat side. As well as being hooked up to a 6000 pound pickup so I think going to the lake should be ok. At least I hope so. Lol.

It's a shame when something has to be done twice, especially when you did it right the first time.  At least you have the right attitude and aren't throwing in the towel..Good luck!

well here are some pics of my rebuild. what fun it was.

I ended up only having to replace the middle 3' pice of steel the top and the bottem were salvageable.

these are some brackets I made and installed to help hold down the walls as well as tighten the whole structure up.

I also used some steel straping and made some cross braces for the back to help keep the shack square.

And after all the repairs were done i got some windows trimmed out and installed.

Looking good! I am in the construction business and we have a saying I think is applicable here: "We have not built a build yet that we can't remodel"  ;D ;D

Keep up the good work

So I am thinking about mounting a permanent sonar unit in my new shanty. I am looking for any suggestions on am older reasonably inexpensive unit to use ( under $150). I would like a decent size screen as well.
