perch with eggs?

all the perch being caught on the lakes i fish all have eggs is this normal or was it just the recent warm snap has them messed up ???

normal. They spawn fairly early in the spring.

normal. They spawn fairly early in the spring.
i know about spawning at ice out but the fish are usually deeper at this time of year we caught fish at 12 ft. with soft egg sacs which i was always told was a sign of being ready to spawn soon

hey gill, all those i got the other night had eggs too! are perch eggs always so pink? or does this have to do with diet and body of water?

Based on what I have seen, perch eggs are usually pretty orange  and fairly firm this time of year....As winter progresses and the eggs develop they get 'bloody' (not how it sounds) and 'ripen' which will give them the pink color and they get more mushy....In years past, I have caught perch from several area lakes and they all seemed to have eggs developing at the same rate.  Maybe the thaw did something to accelerate the development in the lake you are fishing.

i was thinking the same wax but now that the temps are falling maybe we can get back to "NORMAL"fishing for this time of year :)

I wish there was a such thing as normal, would make it a lot easier.
Real fisherman don't yield to the weather.
