Ball hitch mod for sled hitch

I bought an atv this fall.  I own an otter sled with a hitch that attaches with a pin.  I tried to remove the 1 7/8 ball from the hitch of the atv so I can use the hitch pin from the sled.  The nut on the ball would not come off.  I am sure with better tools it can be done but it got me thinking.  I’d prefer not to take the ball on and off all the time based on what I need the atv
for.  I was thinking of buying a trailer coupler to attach to the ball and attach the sled hitch to the coupler.  All I’d have to do is drill out the back hole on the coupler.  Has anyone tried this and if so how did it work?

I have not tried that, but they do make this that goes over the ball for attaching pin style hitches for Atv’s and lawn tractors.

They sell a hitch that bolts on and you can put a ball in one hole and have the other for a pin hitch.  I got mine at Tractor Supply.  It's around 35 bucks.

Thanks TundraRider.  I did some looking yesterday and couldn't find anything like that.

I got a larger teardrop shaped snap ring and it fits around the shaft of the ball but is too small to pop off of it

Eskimo also makes a hitch that can be used with either a trailer hitch ball, or with a traditional pin style setup.
