i have been using a cheap 5.00 rod i bought when i first started ice fishing just thought it was time to get 1 designed for the job im either going to get a bro series 1 or a schooley i think there is alot to the float and neutral bouyancy thing so you are probably right about the rod not playing a huge part in it thanks for all the input fellas i truely love this site  ;D

Check out Venom bobbers. They are adjustable for bouyancy.      http://www.venomfloats.com

After using Venom's last year, my Thills went the way of the dinosaur. I use them year round....absolutely fantatstic, and infinately adjustable. In fact,  Dawg was the one that pushed me into using them. Glad he did.  ;D

You can set them so your bait will fall very slowly and at times fish will rise up and just nail it as it comes down to them.
