Now I've seen it all !!

Over the years, I've seen a lot of different designs for Ice Shanty's.  From the ramshackle "don't know whats holding it together" shacks to the " Holy *****, the rig around and had to go back to see this thing up close and personal !!  This thing is amazing, the fit and finish of the construction is flawless !! I've been a contractor for over 30 years now and I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT !! If I ever went back to a Permy, this would be it !!


Believe it or not, It measures 4'x8' inside, the trailer its sitting on is 6'x8' ! It's 2"x2" framing and all the exterior trim is metal wrapped ! Slap on a set of PT runners, cut holes in the floor and your off to the races !! All I can say is " THIS WACKY SHACKY IS WICKED AWESOME " !!

Your certainly right Surf about that Hut being amazing......It would make a Great Prop on Sesame Street Too.
Only problem I see owning that is the whole Icefishing Community would be at the Hut taking pictures of it and
scaring the fish away with all the traffic noise on the Ice.
Just imagine a Drunken Icefisherman rubbing his eyes and shaking his head trying to orientate himself. LOL.

They were asking $1800.00 for it and with the amount of work involved, I believe, it's worth every penny ! They can be built to anyone specifications !!

Surflizard that is on different looking shack/shanty . It would be interesting to talk to the builders and hear how they are constructed most be some complex cuts and wood working involved. The window framing reminds me of a child's playhouse.

I saw a relative did their handy work at putting together a tool shed.  It came out almost like that too, eventhough he was using a kit.  LOL's  There's a thing to be had about foundation.

It is originally designed as a kids play house, I saw it's potential for ice fishing as soon as I saw it !. The ridge on the roof is level and each wall is a mirror image of its opposite wall, To get these kind of results intentionally, while maintaining the precise fit and finish, requires a advanced working knowledge of trigonometry and the wood working skills of a master Cabinet maker to pull this off ! I've seen designs similar to this, while working at one of the Disney expansion projects in Florida, in the late 80s, early 90s. To deliberately build something off kilter like this, drove the project engineers absolutely Crazy !!   I have a pretty good idea of the amount of work and the degree of difficulty, that was involved with putting a shack like this together, My hat is off to whom ever built this cunning little design !

That took alot of work, nice!  Someone around here makes little play houses similar, but they mock the Dr. Suess 'look'.  I've thought the same as you, would make a neat ice shack.

That's a sweet looking shack there. I built a shed like that as a kid, but it was lack of measuring and materials on my part. Now I just buy them...
