Met up with Shaun (Fishslap) today and fished a PUBLIC lake in Colorado. Shaun started off with a decent bass at sunrise, and I followed soon after with this hawg:

Shaun ended up with four species (bass, bluegill, redear, and crappie), and I followed up with a few more bass and plenty of bluegill. It was a great day with some decent specimens of Colorado warm water species!

Thanks guys, I hope the bass makes the leader board. I was looking back through my pics, and I can't tell if this one is a redear or a bluegill.

There's a bit of red/brown around the outside of the operculum flap, but it's not very much. What do you think? Gill or redear?

Hybrid. I’ve caught several from there. Coolest hybrid I ever caught was gill x pseed in our other bass spot.

That makes sense, not very much red. Yeah, Pumpkinseed are cool looking fish.

Awesome fish. I have only been on the ice for about 2 1/2 hours so far this year with nothing to so for it. My spud bar went through the ice last Saturday evening so I did not stay out too long. Skiing this Saturday so hopefully I can get out for a few hours on Sunday.

MA, I think -- doesn't say specifically on the entry, but that's where that Teamtip-up is from! Some hawgs out in MA...I miss it sometimes...
