Never seen one that big, seen a lot of em, would like a picture if you get into them!!  Lot of guys get 10-11" gills which are huge, but when you put the tape to them they shrink!!!

I seen a video a while back where this guy was breeding these giant gills,I think he said that a 12 inch 1 1/2 pound fish is average, they are supposed to grow real fast ,I think the guy was from Georgia, I wish the fish comm. would stock some of those around here

I looked at some state record fish (gills and sunfish) and some of them were 13-14''. Of course those were the biggest fish ever recorded in those states. Some were over 3# !!!

my guess is this is what they are as there are a few lakes out in the midwest that have them

45 years on chasing Gills only about 30 plus fish hit 10 inches. 10.25 is best ,maybe 6 fish have hit that mark. NO WAY 13-14 " fish. People post nice pic's but they never measuse what they say. 9.5 gills are giants. Can't wait for PIC"S lol

Hooking a 13-14” Gill would be a feat, if you do post up a pick I would love to see it.  Heck if you whack a 11-12” fish post up a pick.  That would be one heck of a Gill.  Good luck brother, I hope you get a bucket full of them .

I'm guessing these are hybrids.  True bluegill crossed with a green sunfish.  They will reach that status in certain situations.

Been getting a lot of gills at Pymatuning this year.  So far out of the hundreds that I've caught there have been 12 over 10 inches and one that just made the 11 inch mark.  If we had a longer growing season I could  see gills getting in the 12-14 inch range.

Hybrids can reach that, an pretty fast too, that's why they stock em in lakes down south an in the west. But their top end weight is smaller than a pure natural monster haha

We had a guy at work who bragged about all the big fish he caught. We found out  he would measure them from the tail to the tip of his rod.
