What kind of wood did you use for smoking your fish? I want to try smoking some fish, just curious what you use?

For fish milder woods are the best option. As mentioned apple and cherry are good options along with oak, pecan and pear woods.

Stick burner smokers are the only way to go!  I feed mine mostly pecan wood, because I get it for free!  I get to clean up all the wind blown tops and limbs a couple times a year, best deal ever.

Also, the invasive carp (bighead and silver) are great on the smoker with a kosher salt/browns sugar brine/rub

Doing some Platte river Coho & Betsie river Kings in my wood smoker this week-end. Resisted the urge to buy a Bradley a few yrs. ago. Been doin it "Old school" since I was 14  (1975). I use Cherry, Maple, Oak & Sassafras.  Get it for FREE on my place. The pic  of those fillets in the original post do look Awesome ! Here is a tip to try w/ your brine.. add about 1/4 cup of liquid smoke & 3  TBS Vanilla extract.  Adjust to your liking. Thyme is good, too, but  use  sparingly.

I really like my Cookshack electric.  Apple wood all the way.

I mostly use apple and cherry wood for all my smoking. Sounds like I will be set to try some fish!

It must be an acquired taste because I threw every scrap in the garage when I tried it. Bighead carp tastes like pond scum IMO.

Hey, Stretch, where are you located?  Suggestion: Update the location in your profile.  Are you in MN?  Come on out to ID and we'll get you into some trout.  Techniques vary with the season and sometimes with the body of water.

I like apple or peach if I can get it. I find cherry is just a little sharp. Just my taste I guess. And by the way that product looks great!
Keep it safe! JDL
