I've caught fish on almost all of the soft plastics that clam offers. Use them on a small tungsten jig. Just match the size and color up. Sometimes to entice the bite you need more action from the soft plastic than the maggot/waxies will produce. I use the ones that look like stonefly/mayfly quite often..think its called the Jamei. Also use the Maki and Spiiki alot. Small marabou jigs work good too.

I like the atom ones with the legs, but I always throw real meat on them for scent, it seems to make a difference if they are fussy.

Get yourself a squidgy ball and pop off the little 'nubs' and you have a seasons worth of soft plastics for your jigs for a couple bucks.

Plastics are all I use. 1.5" gulp alive grubs produce well. Like was said earlier a small stonefly/mayfly nymph plastic on a tungsten jig head has been working well for me this year. This winter it's been only small stuff they want where I fish.
