7 gallon bucket
« on: Nov 03, 2009, 07:07 AM »
Hello all, I am new to the board...and very impressed.  I restarted ice fishing last year and am getting my gear restocked.  I have been looking all over for a 7 gallon bucket with no luck.  Does anyone know of where to get one in the metro? The five gallon is way to low and even the 6 gallon is a little low. Any help would be great.

I've run across them rarely that had stuff like pool chemicals in them. Been fortunate enough to find some 6 gallon ones but 7s are rare critters. Found a few places online to order them, but I've got to think shipping would be prohibitive. Group Buy, anyone?

Can't one be made out of two five gallon ones? Or does that only yield a six?

LOL. I had the same question over 6 years ago on here.  I wasn't able to find any locally and ended up making my own by cutting and combining 2 five gallon buckets. I used silicone sealant around the inside and outside. It works great still. I am able to store all my polar tip-ups in it and put a lid on it.
If there are any places that sell home beer brewing or wine making equipment nearby, they may have 7 gallon buckets.

My chlorine came in a 7gal bucket with a screw on lid with a gasket seal, I have two that I use for trapping. Check with pool owners or pool supply business?

Well that's what I'm saying. They have shipping quotes on there for 18 buckets, I imagine they nest and stack on a pallet. So the shipping for a couple of buckets would be prohibitive, but a whole RAFT of the things would be more worthwhile, if you had more people interested in getting them.

As in you could get a few people interested, pitch in and get em, and sell the surplus on here.

If you were an enterprising sort. Personally, I like my screwed-together milk crates.

Try a homebrewing place.  I homebrew beer and vint wine and have purchased a couple of 8 gallon buckets (I think they actually are called 7.9 gallon, they aren't much taller, but maybe enough?).

in the cities, Midwest supplies is who I mainly use.

Can someone that has a 7gallon bucket take a pic next to a 5gallon for comparison?  Wondering how much taller is it? No specs online.
