Annual New Years Trip
« on: Nov 30, 2019, 09:01 AM »
Need some help!!!

Need a place to go fishing this year, we have been doing an annual New years trip for the last decade or more and this year we are getting stumped as to where to go. Lakes we fish local are Boysen, Keyhole, Tounge River, Pathfinder. We were thinking about changing it up some. Maybe a guided trip to X. Fish some new waters. Travel is optional. I wanted to go to Cascade again for the big perch. The rest of the team is not into catching small fish. They all want a chance to land a 10lb plus walleye. I suggested lake trout. Yet again they want to catch fish not just hope to catch one in a day/trip. So my brain is going to Fort Peck but will there be Ice? Hell Creek or the Dam? Thought about heading over to Minnesota and chase some big bluegill, and walleye. South Dakota sounds good, but where. Thought about North Dakota Sacagawea. We hit devils lake last year and was very disappointed so that's out. I really been thinking of Lake Tobin SC.  So hope you guys can help rake the brain some to where do we go? Guide or self-guided, either way is good. Just want a trip that we can catch fish and lots of them. Yes its fishing but just want one day to be wow day.
No one left behind.

Winnipeg crushes for trophy walleye. Henry's Lake, Idaho is a decent sub 8hr trip and starting to receive a lot of attention. Plenty of other spots to head to, it all depends upon your expectations, target species, willingness to travel radius, budget, etc. Cascade is a long haul from Gillette, 18hrs, and even I may not make that trip this year unless conditions are very good for travel on the Interstate as well as on the ice there this year.

Two words: Lake Winnipeg
You will not be disappointed! You will catch more big fish than you ever had along with a ton of eaters.

Go to Lake Erie if you don’t mind traveling. Look up videos on YouTube. They catch mind blowing fish every day

I think Winnipeg is how LATE can you get on more than early, from what I’ve seen!
