Not my recipe but this is now the only coating I use. I've tried most of the others: Drakes, Panko, seasoned flour, cornmeal, crackers, chips, etc. Not a fan of batters either. As for my side...a cold, creamy and crunchy bowl of coleslaw. http://www.pattonspride.com/resident_order.html
Since it is advertised as a catfish 'breading', what fish do you use it on and how do you cook the breaded fish? My primary 'fried' fish are perch (my all time favorite fish), bass, walleye, crappie, and bluegills. We either smoke or oven bake trout/salmon - never breaded; never fried.
My go to is - dip filets in whipped eggs or milk - throw filets in a gallon ziploc bag full of Italian breadcrumbs, a liberal amount of garlic salt and quite a bit of pepper (hows that for measurements). - fry on low heat until golden brown on each sideIf I’m feeling lazy I’ll grab someMcCormick fish fry mix and some Cajun fish fry mix. I’ll mix it together as the hot Cajun stuff is too much for my gut to handle! Then fry!
