I know in the last couple of years that Kittery Trading Post has put them on sale towards the end of the season for less than 20 bucks.

I am also interested in end of the season deals on heritage lakers, jack traps, indian hills, any of the usually too-expensive tip ups.

Not a huge savings, but I know Jack Traps is having an 18% off sale online.

I love mine.  Easy set up, take down, and they sit high, the flag is very visable.  I have caught many fish on my heritage lakers.

In my opinion they are the best all around tip up, for the money, that are out there. I run HL's on Ft. Peck in Montana where there is no attendance law. We fish 6 tip ups kinda like a trap line, speading them out over many, many miles. Consequently, your often not there when you get a fish and sometimes the fish is hooked for several hours. I am talking 10 to 20 pound Pike, Lake Trout as big as 20 pounds and trophy size walleye. I am running 150 lb test Power Pro with a 40 lb Titanium wire leader (Malin Boa). I have never had a fish tear apart one of my HL tip ups. I have seen large fish tear the reel right off of the standard size Polar Tip Ups. HL Tip Ups will trake a lickin and keep on tickin.

I wonder why they cost so much because they work like any other tip up.

But there is a difference. They are far better built and stouter than many lesser tipups. I have seen el cheapo tipups where the reel is held on by a nail. Not heritage Lakers. They can take a pounding and not come apart. Worth every penney.

I just got 6 lakers from online at kittery on sale, they ran out of the standard black finish I wanted and called me if I wanted unfinished instead and said no problem. I got the package yesterday and was surprised they gave me the heavy duty Muskie ones at no extra charge. I love the way these are built, just finished putting stain and spar varnish on them.  Look great.
