Heading out to Lake Indepenence 2/23
« on: Feb 22, 2008, 11:33 AM »
Heading out here tomorrow and wonder how everyone else has been doing and where they've been fishing. We've been getting a few nice perch and small walleye in 20 fow out from the launch. We've been driving out on the ice but the snow is pretty deep in spots so watch out, we got stuck a few times. I also heard there some kind of snowmobile race going on tomorrow? any report/info would be appreciated.

Fished the whole day and the weather was perfect. The fish were there but the bite wasn't too great. We did manage 20 nice perch in the 10-12" range. Fished for walleye and night and in the morning with no luck. I'll probably be out there again next week but I'll only be goin after perch then.

We were fishing in 12-13 fow. The were holding pretty tight to the bottom and as soon as you dropped your jig down they would rise up, most just looked though. I'll be out there again on wednesday.

Fished in the about the same spot as saturday in 12-13 fow. The perch bite was terrible but the walleye picked up just before dark, too bad they were all small. Caught a 13" and 14.5" and lost another at the hole and marked 4 or 5 more lookers. I got all the fish a swedish pimple with a minnow. I also lost a lunker pike on a tip up baited with a 10" perch.  I'll be out there again on friday to finish off pike and walleye season.
