First post/ early ice fishing in Alberta

Alberta pond has 7” of clear ice on it. Perch are biting and some small brook trout are around too. Sure feels good to get back on the ice though!

I have to admit I've caught lots of sublegal trout in their but never a perch.  This was in open water.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info, I considered going there last weekend but changed course after the midweek warm-up. I caught a few nice brookies there last spring through the ice (and lost more). Any idea if the ice is that thick where the creek channel runs through by the Ford sign?

No problem! And that’s weird you never got into the perch there. That’s all I can find 😂

It should be as long as you don’t get too close to the highway. I don’t trust that ice since the plows push salt on the pond all the time.

I did get a couple 9” perch out of like 95 perch. Too many perch in there
