i've always worn the military mickey mouse boots....if you put a foot through the ice and water gets in you just leave it, it'll warm up in a minute or so, then just dump the water out and your foot stays warm

Rocky Ice Trackers.  They have built in metal cleats on the soles that you can flip out as needed for traction so you don't need creepers. They are also very warm.  My only problem is I only had one chance to use them this year with this lousy weather.

I've got a pair of Rocky's, not sure what model, got them on sale at dicks 40 bucks down from 100. They are really warm, a bit bulky but I can still drive my truck in them which is a immprovement from my last pair. Best time to get fishing or hunting clothing is the post season sales at dicks or gander.  Never worn the amry boots but if they are like any thing else i have that is arm issued i'm sure they are 100x better than my rocky's! but for 40 bucks they were a great purchase

I have always had good luck with Sorel's.My first pair were Caribou's,they lasted about seven years and now I have a pair of Bighorns customized by a Stingray 8'' auger, yup,I caught my toe once and those blades really are razor sharp, but nothing a little silicone and Duct tape couldn't fix. These boots are very light weight and also very warm and the removable liner is a nice feature.

I have the rocky blizzard stalkers and their generic cousin made by cabelas.
Both are very warm, waterproof, and not to heavy at about 4.2lb per pair.
only differance is the rocky's have a bit more width for those extra thick socks,
but I have'nt had to wear those with 1200 grams of thinsulate in the boot!!

Whats the difference between the valve and no valve boots and what does the valve do? I'm looking for some news boots and those mickey mouse boots are getting some good PR here.
Might try'em out.

the valves dont really mean anything. They are there for when somebody in the military is airborne with them on, cause they release the pressure...It says not to touch the valves unless you are airborne...so really for us hardwater people, the valves have no use

I wear lightweight cabelas kangaroo leather boots.  They  are nice and light and comfortable for the sometimes VERY LONG walks out to my ice fishing spots.  I don't have a problem with cold feet, so insulation isn't a big deal.  I think there is 400 grams of thinsulate in them.  They are also completely waterproof, I have had them for 7 years now.  They are great.

I love my Lacrosse Ice Kings. They are a little bulky, but keep my feet very warm. Sometimes so warm my feet start to sweat. But I suppose that beats the alternative.

they reccommend closing the valve off tight 100%... so i just grabbed a pair of pliers and cranked it shut, never to worry about it again! Dont think I will be going airborne anytime soon!  ;D

P.S.  I only paid $40.00 for mine on Ebay!

Since the advent of snowmobile boots I have used them with a heavy felt liner, I take sheet metal screws and screw same into the lugs in the bottom for traction. As I have several pairs of felt liners I am able to change every trip. I'm still using the Yamaha boots I got with my first sled in 1973. WORKS FOR ME !!!!

I have sorels with felt liners ,also have rocky insulated boots but I say my warmest pair are the mickey mouse boots. Like some one else mentioned, If you fall thru you cancontinue to wera them in warmth. I know this to be true first hand. I just ordered a new pair of white MM's off e-bay. Nothing wrong with mine but they're pretty old and wanted another pair which will do my life time.

Rocky's, 1,000 gram thinsulate. They're extremely warm and comfotable. Next pair will probably be LaCross or something like that.

This year however, could just about get by with sandals!

Mickey mouse boots hands down are the best boot for warmth and the money.  If you can pick them up on ebay cheap i recommend it, if not sportsman's guide $70.00 brand new.  I've owned every kind of boot from 400-1200 thinsulate and they don't  even compare.

I have a pair of sorels that I wear most often but they dont have the removable liner. they are rubber around the bottom but they do get wet then it take forever for them to dry out. so when its slushy out I where a pair of ruber boots that have 1000 gram thinsulate. I also have used the kangaroo skined boots that some one else talked about they have 400 gram thinsulate but they are mainly good for shanty use. or the warmer days.

(Quote)They are really warm, a bit bulky but I can still drive my truck in them which is an improvement from my last pair.

Those must be some big boots or a really small truck.  I have trouble driving my truck in my garage.

I have a pair of sorels my dad bought before i was born 27+ years old and I was still wearing them until the steelers won me a new pair on sunday ;D. I have waded in the creeks and gone home dry with these boots this is after my dad "retired" them. Standing in 4 inches of water on the ice this year they started showing there age :(. But i did well sunday and got me some new boots gonna be tough to compare with the sorels though. I have worn them for my 6 or so years on the ice.
