tip up line

I am kinda new to ice fishing (this is my third year)My question? Do you have to use braided on a tipup.

you could use what ever you want, but the braided works the best as long as you use a leader out of mono or steel depending what your fishing for

If you're looking for something specific I started using the Sufix tip up braid which I like a lot.

I like the Mason plastic coated tip up line 30# test, it won't soak up water or freeze to the ice at all and is very easy to handle, doesn't kink or tangle when a fish pulls all your line out. I have some of my tip ups with over 10 year old line on and its still good. Just tie a swivel to it and use a leader of your length and choice. I use 8 lb flouro carbon for walleye and a steel leader for northern pike.
