19 degrees below with 37 degrees below wind chill when we left Lake Osakis last night.  The wind had died down from the afternoon when we went out.

Yup...sounds like a manly winter there. One feels proud when you actually make it home.

Tip up fishing was no fun last night.  Luckily it was a short trip since I went after work.

Yep, pretty much the only time you get to see the sun in the winter.....after the arctic cold front moves through, don’t really miss that been gone for 25 years. It’s nice to visit on occasion though....keep warm!

Still was -18 here this morning. Supposed to be a high of 18 above today but with 20mph winds. Going to be 24 above Saturday and I'll be out trying to ice some 13+ inch crappies.

You are correct! Gratefully approaching 3 feet and almost no slush.  LIFE IS GOOD!

Ice HOG, seems like you could send 12" of it this way!  19° hear right now.  I will be walking a board onto 4" of less than ideal ice to fish in the morning!

That would be great if one could open up a market trading ice.  I do have more than is needed.  Great idea! ;D ;D

You must be living right Gunflint, as you are south of me, the last trout lake I fished (about 2 weeks ago) only had 12" of clear ice, 6 inches of poor ice, with slush on top of that, since then I am sure the slush has improved with colder weather and maybe made a little more ice.  I have not bothered measuring the ice on my home lake, probably at least 3', but layered, am predicting an early ice-out this year.  Temperatures have moderated here today, no more of that -30 and -40 wind chill business.

We just had -25 F and windy. The wind blows off all the loose snow and the cold helps harden up the slush underneath. Grateful to finally see some dry ice on the lakes. Most of this season uncharted snow simply seemed like a a trap of slush waiting to engulf my Dog.

Sounds a bit wimpy or something- not sufficiently suffering for something of great value.

Suffering, like Work, is highly over-rated! ;D
