following van cleavers advice i thought of this idea i have 30 years of stuff i dont use regularly,was trying to think of a way to redistibute to newbies,those in need,or anyone who wants to utilize the resource.any ideas and comments welcome.

I saw a post where some PA guys were trying to set up some kids days maybe they could use some equipment for that to hand out to kids. Nothing makes a kid smile more than thier very own fishing rod. Belive me I know, I got together some stuff for a friends boy and he still asks when we can go in july.

Great idea Irish. I know we have groups in MN that take kids out and teach them to fish. Kids that might not have a chance otherwise. Also, you might want to check with a local service group like the Lions. I'm a member here and we are always looking for stuff like that to use for fundraising auctions, etc. Check with your local service group. They would probably be interested.

If we have any of the "Kid's Days" this winter, I'm sure the event planners would appreciate any donations of gear that IS members would care to give to the kids.

I took a local Boy Scout troop out a few years ago. I had about 20 youngsters and they loved it. SInce the troop leaders also had never ice fished before they were hooked for good. I ended up donating a bunch of my extra gear so they could go on a regular basis.

Don't have anything to give right now. Been on a limited budget.

Just thought I'd chime in that most State Parks have loaner programs where people can come in and borrow stuff for a day, most of this equipment is donated by fisherman. I do not know how many of them have ice fishing equipment available, since they'd need an auger, but it might be an idea.

i've got three jiggy thingys i'll never use. i'm sure they are worth the shipping cost. they are homemade and one reel on one is spring loaded for an automatic hook set. please for kids or the needy only.

as another option,
there is a group/charity that plans outdoor events for handicapped kids, hunting/shooting/fishing related
its a national group, and if they have a chapter in your area, sure they could put it to good use.
wont post a link to groups site unless a mod gives the ok,
