Anyone us HT Husky tip-ups?

I was wondering if they are bare wood or do they have a finish on them? 

I would like to buy a couple and finish them with a dark stain.  I'd also replace the orange flag.  You can get them pretty cheap (12$ or so).  I don't want to play $32 a pop for beaver dams.  Any other opinions on the Husky?  What type of wood are they?

someone bought me one as a gift.  but the only thing i would use it for is pike.  they trip hard designed for larger fish.
