I got some of the "real magic" skipper suggested and I want to see how that works
A bad day of fishin is still better than a good day at work!!

For the tipup and tipup line, it will work great. Don't spray it in the water though, it won't do you any good.

The bubble wrap  insulation found in your local hardware store works excellent. Suprised no one has mentioned it yet.

If u can find a black one, even better.
I use some black foam i had from those interlocking exercise mats.
Thinking about lining the bottom with some reflectix to see if it makes any difference.

........and this is relavent, how?

His point was that you'll be pulling fish through the holes all day so icing up won't be a huge problem, you turd

I would also like to mention adding anything to the water (oil, anti freeze, urine) is a huge no no.
Not only are you polluting the places you fish, this stuff also get all over your gear.
And if you think a fish cant smell/taste hints of that on your line or in the water, your sorely mistaken.

Get some hole covers (make your own as stated above from wood, rubber, foam), if they aren't working try adding some reflectix to the bottom, if that doesn't work, its time to chisel em out.

Made these rubber hole covers a few years ago with my Tip Up Caddy.  They've done the trick for me in preventing Tip Up hole freeze up.

Make the switch to Frabil round thermal tip-ups, saves time and they fit in a 5 gallon bucket. The black ones come with line, depth marker, and light that flashes when the flag go up. I hate it when we have to break out the ice on my buddies old school traps after 5 minutes.
I used the Frabil's a couple years back for quite some time and they did a real good job of keeping the holes ice free, but you could only use them on an 8" hole max. I like the flashing light idea, mine didn't have that. I put those strike indicator bells that go on the end of a regular spinning rod on my flags so you can hear the flag go up.

Just walk around every 15 minutes and take a leak on all your tip-ups.

That would require an excessive amount of beer!

So did you ever figure out what you were gonna do? I would say just check your holes so you can also check on your bait. Not always a bad idea to move the bait around once in a while also...
If fishing was work I'd never be sick!

Whats the best way stop freeze over for a tip up? Forget them sitting in the garage...

Changed my middle name to "You should have been here yesterday".         Remember it's called fishing, not catching.

Why break your balls carrying a bunch of crap out and extra stuff to set up,  Frabil thermals  are the way to go pack snow or slush around them and they never freeze ...
