Title: Frozen smelt for yellow perch ?

Does it matter that much if the smelt  i would cut up for adding to my jigging spoons for yellow perch was frozen 2 weeks earlier ? I caught some to eat  but a few for bait would not matter if they  would work to catch some perch . any help appreciated   THANKS

I used to just buy that from the grocery store, until my state banned it...

Smelt was one of my easy to use bait, always available frozen when I needed some.
