I've had the best luck on pretty much anything purple and white. My favorite was a home made one I picked up from a small bait shop last year. It is about a size 12 or 14, the jig ran from the eye of the hook to the bend. It is painted half white half purple long ways with a band of pink running long ways on the white side. Also had black stripes running cross ways for most of the length.
I'd say about 75% of the gills I took last year were on this jig.

For me some of those small Hali jigs. Diamantti, Tiamantti, or mini Piori...whatever were those strangly named lures were? I like the red and black combo the best.

I picked up some size 16 white and purple Marmooskas and some really small fiskas, don't know if they are 2mm or 3mm though. Hopefully those work out good for me this winter.

JR's pannie pill!! Tipped with a Gulp! Alive minnow fry...unbeatable. I have out fished my friends who use other jigs and baits.

Depends on the lake. The lake our cabin is on the hot jig is a Fairy jig in black or purple. That said, my overall favorite is a Fiskas 4mm.

Glo red Wolfram 4mm and a clown Gill Pill. Tipped with a anise soaked nuggie or 2 maggots depending on level of activity. On a Utah lake for giant gills we use the Gulp Alive micro baits for tipping. 13" gills are common there.
-
surprised no one mentioned the diamond jig yet, ive had alot of success on the firetiger diamond jig, I dont particularly like the gill pill, the 45 degree hook offset has made me miss alot more strikes.

A lot of Bulls have fallen to the GILL PILL,firetiger, black and white, tipped with two mags,or a waxy.Clean Rastso's are still hard to beat, they get neutrel fish and aggressive fish.
-
I just started using the diamond eye jig late last year, I did have a little success. I have a few more colors and sizes to try this year, we'll see how they do.
